No experience required, just bring a water bottle and an energy to learn!
Balboa is a fun swing dance that you can do! Build on your fundamentals to improvise in pure balboa (close embrace) and open up to bal-swing with toss-outs! Content may include, but is not limited to: close embrace connection, footwork patterns & ad-libs in pure bal, come-arounds, and toss-outs. For this series, we recommend that you are comfortable dancing in close embrace (chest-to-chest with your partner). Balboa is a shuffle-y, slide-y, pivot-y dance, we recommend low-grip/low-tread footwear, leather soles are great if you’ve got ‘em! Don’t know what balboa looks like? Check out the CalBal Open Classic Finals! Want a 1-minute crash course in balboa footwork? Try this video also from CalBal. Hope to shuffle with you in June!
