SAA starts back up this week!
Check the calendar to find out where we’re at!
We won’t be holding progressive lessons, drop-in lessons, or a social dance this week (February 28th-March 5th). The University of Michigan is on Spring Break, so we are too.
Hope to catch you next week! 😊
Times: Tuesdays, 8-9pm from February 15th through March 29th
Location: Room 2469 Mason Hall, 419 South State Street, Ann Arbor, MI 48109
Series Price: $12 per lesson
Please try to show up 5-10 minutes prior to class to get warmed up, change shoes, check in with instructors/make any necessary payments, etc.
When COVID-19 hit in March of 2020, we went on a bit of a break. It’s been a quiet couple of years…
But this February 2022, we plan to open up for in-person dancing again! Join us Wednesday, February 9th, as we get back on our feet! We’ll have our usual beginner lesson from 8-9pm and then social dancing from 9-10:30pm.
You’ll find that things are little different than they used to be. In an effort to keep each other safe, we have set of COVID-19 protocols that all attendees must abide by. These include vaccination and mask wearing at all times. Click here to read more!
Check out the calendar for when and where you can find us.
Hope to see y’all soon! 🙂
As a proactive measure to keep our community healthy, we will be CANCELLING all of our March events for Swing Ann Arbor. We will not be having our classes, practice sessions, or social dances for the month of March and we will keep you updated moving forward into April.
We have no reason to believe that anyone involved in our community has come into contact with the Coronavirus; this is merely a preventative measure in the interests of our collective safety.
However, we can’t stop you from practicing or dancing on your own! This provides an excellent opportunity to practice solo jazz!
SAA & Friday Night Swing are teaming up again to bring you another splendid Valentine’s Dance! Back by popular demand:
$10 General Admission, $8 SAA & AACTMAD members
8-9pm Beginner dance lesson
9-Midnight Dancing & Music!
Instructors have been chosen. Venues have been reserved. It’s time for our Winter 2020 series to begin! We’re mixing it up this semester – instead of Swing I and Swing II, we’ll be offering an Open Level Lindy Hop series and a Solo Jazz series!
Swing Ann Arbor’s series have changed times and locations from the Fall semester.
What’s an open level series? It’s really similar to Swing I and Swing II (it’s progressive), except it’s a COMBINED class! Material will be accessible and useful for dancers across a wide spectrum of experience. Val & Connor will provide optional concepts and add-ons that you can try – if you want – so that you can pick and choose the level of challenge that best fits your needs.
The open level series is open to anyone who has attended 4-5 beginner drop in classes and/or feels very comfortable with basic lindy hop shapes (e.g., swing outs, circles, passbys, tuck turns).

Join Chris Glasow & Irem Yoruk for a series focusing on the “ABC’s” of solo jazz dancing: Common jazz steps, why solo jazz is important to we Lindy Hoppers, and more!

You do NOT need any prior experience to join this series – all are welcome. Please bring comfortable shoes and clothing and a full water bottle, as this venue does not have water immediately available.
We’re making exciting changes to this semester’s lesson series, so keep an eye out over the next week for those updates! Series will begin the week of January 15th.
In the meantime, we’ll be changing venues frequently this month and next for our main dances/beginner lessons, so be sure to check out our calendar!
While the University of Michigan is on break, so are we! No drop-in lessons, no series, and no dances until January 8th. We’ll update with more details, soon.
‘Tis the season to come together and celebrate the people, music, and dancing that bring us joy!
On Saturday, December 7th, Swing Ann Arbor and Friday Night Swing (FNS) are teaming up yet again to bring you a night of splendid live jazz music and, of course, swing dancing at Concourse Hall. We love getting everyone together, and whether it’s your first time attending a swing event or you’re a regular face at weekly dances, it warms our hearts to have you celebrate with us!
Bring a batch of cookies to the dance and show off your baking skills! YUM! All we ask is that you label your contribution with possible allergens (nuts, gluten, etc.).
LIVE MUSIC by PLENTY RHYTHM
Local jazz band Plenty Rhythm will be gifting us with an evening of swingin’ tunes! We’ve loved what they’ve played for us in the past, and are stoked to have another night of dancing with them!

$8 SAA, FNS, or AACTMAD members
Beginner lesson: 8pm-9pm
Live music: 9pm-Midnight
DJ’d late night: Midnight-2am
